Zipper:
The zipper is an important garment part that is used for opening and closing functions. This is one kind of trimming but it is also used as garments accessories. The zipper is the most common fastening device used in the apparel industry. Today I would like to discuss the classification of the zipper and its uses.
Classification of Zipper:
There is some classification of the zipper, every one of which has a different application. The classification of the zipper is depending on forms, styles, fabrication, uses of materials, etc. There are some materials used for the zipper manufacturing process such as metallic, plastic, wooden, animal bones, etc.
Generally, the zipper is classified in three ways. They are explained below –
- According to the zipper teeth material
- According to the zipper teeth size
- According to the zipper function
1. According to the zipper teeth material:
A. Nylon zipper
Use: Jacket
B. Metal zipper
Use: Trouser
C. Plastic zipper
Use: Pant
2. According to the zipper teeth size:
A. General teeth size
Example: #3, #4, #4.5, #5, #6, #7, #8, # 10
B. Custom teeth size
3. According to the zipper function:
A. Open-end zipper
Use: Jacket
B. Closed-end zipper
Use: Pant
